Autumn has arrived, and that means there will be more cars on wet roads. Driving can be more hazardous if you are not paying attention to maintenance on your Honda, especially tires. Here are several things to consider this autumn.

Driving in the Rain

Autumn is a rainy time of year. This can make the roads slippery and also make it difficult to see. Check your wiper blades. Are they in good condition for driving in hard rain? Also, Clean your headlights and evaluate your tires to make sure they’re in good working condition.

Fluctuating Tire Pressure

Honda Tire Pressure Light IconDuring the fall and winter months, the cold air condenses the air in your tires. To combat deflating tires, you may need to add more air to equalize the tire pressure. Fortunately, your Honda has a monitoring system called TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), which takes all the guess work out of proper tire pressure.  Since fluctuating tire pressure can negatively impact your fuel economy, alignment, and other components. It’s worth taking time to get air soon as the icon displays on your dash.

Poor Alignment

Last year’s cold-weather months created some rough roads around here, and they’re tough on your car’s alignment and suspension. When you have bad alignment, it’s more difficult to drive. Very bad alignment may lead to your car handling erratically. You may experience vibration, crooked steering, vehicle drift to one side, and swaying. Alignments can be performed quickly. They’re affordable too, so it only makes sense to get yours checked next time you come to Scott Honda Service Center. We use Quick Check Drive® technology to scan alignments – it’s a drive-thru inspection system that provides instant alignment readings as your Honda moves past the scanner. Ask to review your alignment readings. And remember, there is more of a reason beyond safety to maintain proper alignment; it’s also true that alignments extend the life of your tires. Two good reasons to get it fixed quickly.

Insufficient Tire Tread

Unexpected problem occur when driving in the winter with worn tire treads. Too little tire tread causes your tires to lose traction on wet roads and large patch of wet leaves.  Throughout the year, we always recommend that you check your tires to maintain safe tread depth. If tread is low and shows uneven wear patterns, you shouldn’t wait to replace them. It isn’t worth the safety risks. And we offer good/better/best tire quotes to fit your current budget.

This fall, take the time to get your Honda in shape with this simple checklist. It can save lives, and be better for you budget in the long-term.
